Marquis vs. Guayaki: What's The Difference?

Marquis is the new green standard -- organic ingredients, 0 sugar, 0 calories, all while tasting great! While other companies may not think nutritionally-packed drinks are essential, it’s our core mission. We created Marquis to find a solution to the saturated market of sugary and preservative-filled drinks.

Marquis contains absolutely no artificial flavors or preservatives. It’s completely free from modified crops. In fact, our ingredients contain more vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and micronutrients by choosing to farm this way.

Bonus: If all of our competitors in the food and beverage industry managed their soil like ours, we could capture all of the CO2 the human race emits each year. We know we are leading the way for soil management.

What is Yerba Mate?

Yerba Mate is a traditional South American beverage with a natural boost of energy, made from leaves and twigs of the indigenous plant. It includes 15 different amino acids, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Zinc, Potassium, Magnesium, and a range of Antioxidants. It’s a tea made to sustain all the nutrients you need for life!

Some of the benefits of Yerba Mate include increased energy, increased mental focus, immune system support, increased weight loss, and lower heart disease risk. That’s a fair amount of powerful impacts from just one plant!

Yerba Mate is a stimulant that harnesses natural caffeine benefits. Unfortunately, it’s now mass-produced into tea bags and marketed into health food stores, despite companies adding sugar and preservatives. In addition, the number of Yerba Mate companies makes it hard to determine what’s right and what’s not, both for your body and for your tastebuds! Here’s our take on the most significant difference between Marquis Yerba Mate and Guayaki Yerba Mate. You might be surprised at what we find!

Guayaki Yerba Mate

Guayaki is a beverage company that incorporates Yerba Mate into their products. They offer canned, carbonated, and energy shots of Yerba Mate. They promote Yerba Mate as a drink to consume daily, but you may want to double-check those nutrition facts before doing so.

Guayaki Yerba Mate beverages can contain up to 14 grams of sugar, 14 grams of carbohydrates, and no B or C vitamins. The carbohydrates are mainly from evaporated cane juice. Most importantly- there are two servings in each can, and who drinks half a can? A full can of Yerba Mate taxes your body with 28 grams of sugar, more than half of the daily recommended allowance!

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the maximum amount of added sugars you should have in a day include 37.5 grams for men and 25 grams for women. One can of Guayaki contains almost a full day’s worth of our added recommended sugar intake. Excess sugar intake is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, tooth decay, and many more diseases.

Marquis Yerba Mate

Marquis took a look at the Yerba Mate market and realized that there needed to be a change. So, we created a healthy, organic beverage that incorporated all the natural benefits of Yerba Mate while still tasting great on its own or in a cocktail.

On average, Americans consume too much sugar daily. It shows up in all of our food and drinks when we might not even expect it! That’s why we made our Yerba Mate drink sugar-free. Instead of sugar, we use a blend of non-choleric sweeteners that don't spike your blood sugar levels. By doing makes Marquis both keto and diabetic friendly!

Zero Net Carbs

We say Marquis is carb-free because it has zero net carbs. Meaning, the carbs provided by the erythritol (sweetener) are not absorbed by the body. To calculate net carbs, subtract the sugar alcohols from the product’s total carbs because sugar alcohols have minimal impact on blood sugar.

Given this, Erythritol is a natural sweetener commonly used with Stevia.

Dieticians recommend erythritol (er-rith-ri-tall) as a healthy sweetener and alternative to sugar. It’s a naturally occurring sugar alcohol made from USDA Organic, Non-GMO corn, produced commercially by fermentation of a carbohydrate substrate.

Our erythritol is certified USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Calorie-Free, and registers Zero on the Glycemic Index. We know it’s the best way to sweeten our drinks.

The Marquis Difference

Our Yerba Mate contains no artificial flavors or preservatives and is 100 percent free from genetically modified crops. Many people don’t realize that some of their favorite beverage’s ingredients could be grown in sewage or even sprayed with poison! We go the extra mile to make sure that our cans are produced naturally. Combine this with our nutrition-packed facts, and it makes it clear that Marquis should be your go-to morning, afternoon, and evening drink.
